Tuesday, September 1: We spent most of the day driving after returning the rental car in Klamath Falls. It didn’t take long to cross the state border into California.

We could see a snow capped mountain in the distance and discovered we would be driving by Mt. Shasta.

There were great differences in terrain over the miles we covered. The first part of the trip was quite curvy as we descended down from an elevation of 5,000 feet down to almost sea level. After a few hours the land flattened and we passed many large farms - cattle, wheat, then fruit trees and vineyards. We saw a few palm trees that let us know we were getting into warmer climates.

One of the most interesting vehicles we passed was a motor home pulling a trailer with camels.

We arrived at our campsite at the River Point Marina and RV Park in Stockton, CA about 3:30. It was a nice contrast to the KOA of the past two nights that had been our least favorite park so far. Here we are right on the San Joachim River. It was very hot when we got here so we couldn’t enjoy the park as much as we would have liked to but we did catch the end of a beautiful sunset across the river.
