Thursday morning Jim tested the breaks again and everything seemed OK to get back on the road to find somewhere to have the breaks checked. We drove about an hour west over the Montana line to the town of Glendive. The first place we found that had sounded promising on their web site did not look so promising up close. The alternative was to stop at an auto supply store and buy a brake bleeding kit and for Jim to do it himself. We headed to the location of a NAPA store but took a “wrong” turn and went by another auto place that looked a little better. We pulled in and Jim talked to the mechanic who said he could do it in an hour. That sounded great so we waited there. Turned out to be only 1/2 hour and the two mechanics together got the job done in about 15 minutes. And now the breaks were working better than we left so that was a huge relief.
We did find the NAPA store after that so that we could buy that kit as a just in case prevention however they did not have it. Next door was a Pizza Hut so we had pizza for lunch in the strip mall parking lot. This gave us some time and a good wifi signal to do a Face Time meet up with my Mom, Lisa and Zeke who were all having lunch at our house. Zeke looked very confused about seeing Grandma and Grandpa on the screen when he was at our house. :-)
One more stop to a different auto supply store which did have the kit and we were on our way again. We headed a bit more north up through Montana and then west again to the town of Glasgow where we did stay at a Cottonwood campground, just not the one we had planned on being at in the TR National Park. This one was a private part behind a hotel. Not too scenic but full hook ups and strong wifi were nice amenities. That gave me the opportunity finally to have the time and web connection to get this blog started. The campsite fee also included use of the pool and hot tub in the hotel so that was another nice perk.
