We headed off Sunday morning to the Many Glacier area of the park. Along the drive we enjoyed views of the Swiftcurrent Creek and Lake Sherburne and turned out a few times for photos and videos (and a coffee break, of course).

We visited the Many Glacier Lodge and purchased tickets for a boat trip at 3:00 in the afternoon. In the meantime we drove around the lake to the boat launch which also made a perfect lunch stop with views of the Lodge across the lake.

The Many Glacier celebrated it’s 100th year this summer. We stayed at the lodge on our last trip to Glacier so visiting there brought back some great memories from that trip. Alas, the piano in the lodge stood silent since we had no daughter with us this time to serenade us with Fuer Elise and other recital numbers she knew from memory.

At 3:00 we left for a two boat, two lake cruise across Swiftcurrent Lake and Lake Josephine with a hike across the hill separating the two lakes. Then we hiked about a mile to Grinnel Lake and back to the boat for the return trip to Many Glacier Lodge. Along the way there was a suspended plank bridge that was a bit more of a challenge for me than it was for Jim.

Grinnel Lake was worth hike, we just wished we could have stayed a bit longer but did not want to miss the last boat returning to the Lodge at 5:15 PM. I did get a chance to at least get my feat cooled off in the lake.

We were tired and hungry when we got back about 6:00 PM so decided to splurge a bit for dinner in the Lodge Dining Room. What a fantastic view out the windows during our dinner time!
